In perfumery, spicy notes are not used solo very often. Usually, perfumers use them to give to fragrances a certain sound. Most of the time, spices are added to oriental scents. Spices can give warmth, velvety, and sexiness to any perfume. In modern perfumery are used rare spices, the most popular are star anise, ginger, various types of pepper, licorice, cloves, and nutmeg. Typically, spices are used in the heart or base notes of the composition.
